The ISWC Net system www.iswc.org now has 30
of the global network's 40 official agencies connected round
the clock.
Four new agencies have just joined us, ECAD
with its sizeable Brazilian repertoire, SACM for Mexico, ACUM
for Israel and CASH for Hong Kong and China through the joint
application DIVA. In addition, as the LATGA Lithuania and
AKAA-LA Latvia agencies have joined the NOR-DOC Nordic works
database, they will effectively be connected to the WID (Works
Information Database) which contains over 5.87 million musical
works.
Within a maximum of two years, the ISWC system,
with a network of 45 to 50 agencies, will cover almost the
entire world repertoire of music.
During the February CIS Sessions in Berlin, there was a presentation
of the ISWC Net's two new technical applications, namely the
"combined view" - which, as its name indicates,
offers a combined view of the results returned by the ISWC
databases when a query is submitted - and a batch processing
(deferred processing) program allowing ISWCs to be allocated
in large numbers using an XML file and making it easier to
process potential duplicates in the databases.
The first application has been operational since
the end of April; the second will be operational before the
end of 2006.

Interoperability
at all times
At
the annual meeting of the ISO (International Standard Organisation)
TC 46 in Chiang Mai (Thailand), a new working group was
set up on the interoperability of identifiers. Based on
predefined business cases, it will examine the relationship
between the ISWC and the ISRC (International Standard Recording
Code) but also between the ISAN (International Audio Visual
Number) and the ISWC or again the ISTC (International Standard
Text Code) and the ISBN with which everyone is familiar.
2-An ISWC
